Hi,
My uncle is suffering from severe depression. Not so long ago he was vibrant, energetic, talkative and funny. About a year ago he retired and moved from his house of about 30 years. Shortly after this his depression started. He is not only depressed but paranoid, does not think clearly and has no energy. His wife has taken him to two seperate psychiatrists and was diagnosed with pyschosis depression. He has taken many different meds for his depression. His condition has only worsened. The doctor told his wife today that the next step is shock therapy. He has a family history of depression and suicide. His brother and nephew committed suicide about 15 years ago. He says he does not have thoughts of suicide but we can't be sure about it. Does anyone know about shock therapy? Or has any other suggestions? We would really appreciate any help you can offer.

Thanks,
Kathy
