Miscarriage & Still Birth Message Board

Miscarriage & Still Birth Board Index

I think how much/long you bleed depends on how far you were into your pregnancy. In my experience, I found out that my baby had died at 10 weeks, but it measured about 7 1/2 weeks. Instead of a D&C I took Misoprostol (so that I wouldn't need an "operation" and could deal with it a home, and expect when I would start to bleed). The heavy bleeding lasted about 1-2 days, and I had light bleeding/ spotting for about 2 weeks. A few days after the heavy bleeding I had an U/S to see if everything had cleared, and to determine at that point if more medicine or a D&C was needed, but it wasnt. An U/S will be able to tell you if everything has passed. After the bleeding/ spotting stopped it took about the normal amount of time to get my AF. Everyone is a little different, but you might expect your AF about 30 days after the bleeding/spotting stops. I think it doesn't sound right that you wouldn't need to see the Doctor, or at least have one follow-up visit at this point.
