If you have any thoughts this might be ectopic, be seen as soon as possible. If you have any abdominal pains or pains in your shoulder, this can be a sign of an ectopic pregnancy. Also, you may have tenderness in your abdominal area.

Generally hCG numbers rise slowly. If they are over 1200 and no gestational sac is seen, then an ectopic pregnancy is suspected. The tricky part, however, is that tubes can rupture before hCG numbers reach 1200 so if hCG numbers are in the hundreds and rising too slowly, you may be treated for an ectopic pregnancy. If numbers are dropping, many doctors will take a 'wait-and-see' approach.
