... so much blood i was in shock. I had 2 misc. and had DNC both times. Of course i opted for the DNC the 2nd time, bcuz i had such a horrible experience the 1st time. ... (19 replies)
... I've had four miscarriages. Three I delivered at home (they were first trimester losses). The third one was I was 17 weeks. They wanted to do a D&E (16 weeks seems quite far along to do a D&C; a D&E requires different medical equipment and is a slightly different procedure). I refused since I wanted to see and hold my baby. I waited two weeks to go into labor on my own and... (18 replies)

... I've had 2 miscarriages. The first one I let happen naturally after I found out we'd lost the fetus at 9 weeks. The 2nd at 10 weeks, I had a D&C. I would definitely recommend the D&C. For some people, including me, the natural way was VERY physically painful and took about 48 hours to be completed. It was the worst thing I've ever been through. I had dealt with the emotional... ... So sorry to hear of your loss! I just suffered from my 2nd miscarriage in december..I had the option to let it abort on its own or to have a d&c done...I opted to let it abort on its own one day and ended up being rushed to the ER by ambulance the followin morning because I was hemorraghing very badly I was immediately rushed in to the OR to have a D&E done...After all that... ... Well, it seems that everything turned out alright after all. Our doctor made some phone calls on Tuesday, and got us squeezed in at the hospital, where they induced labour... which was the ideal solution. We didn't even know it was an option, because they usually only induce if the miscarriage is after 20 weeks. So, in the end, this was the best option for us. My wife was... (18 replies)
... We just found out that we've had a miscarriage, and it turns out that the baby has been gone for a couple of weeks. We scheduled my wife for a D 'n' C in a couple of days, but she's curious to know what happens if your decide to just 'labour it out'. ... (18 replies)
... I recently had a miscarraige, but didn't have a D&C as it happened naturally. I saw my OBGYN this morning and she told me that it's the first period after the m/c that is usually the one off timing wise, but that after that you're usually back to normal. She did say, however, that any pregnancy whether it goes to term or not CAN change your cycles some - they may get longer... (3 replies)

... A D&C is dilation and curettage of the uterus. Basically it is removing the embryo/fetus from the uterus after a miscarriage or can be done to terminate a pregnancy. There are many factors for timing of pregnancy after a D&C - complications, if further testing is suggested and most importantly, the emotional readiness of the couple trying to conceive. (1 replies)
... Different doctors tell different things so you'll probably get mixed opinions. I waited 2 weeks after my d&c before having sex. My doc said to wait just 1 week before having sex, but I didn't feel comfortable having sex after just 1 week so I held off a little longer but I was fine 2 weeks after. That was my first d&c though so it may be longer if you've had more than one. ... (1 replies)
... a tablet which expels contents of womb through you having pains like a very bad period, a D and C or let it happen naturally. ... (2 replies)
... I guess you could call it a Missed Miscarriage for me also. I went in with my first pregnancy at 12 weeks for my reg checkup and to finally hear the heartbeat, they couldn't find one with the doppler handheld device. They took me to Ultrasound and there was no blood going through the baby at all. No sign of heartbeat. They measured the baby and it only was as big as a 9 week... (18 replies)
... I am very sorry for you and your wife. My husband and I had to make the same difficult decision just last week. We also opted for the D&C because I could not handle the emotional waiting for the labor. We were 11 weeks. The doctor had told me I could try it on my own, but that it would be difficult due to the size of the baby. My mother in law is a midwife, and she also... (18 replies)
... NO you don't have to have a D&C after you miscarry, unless everything doesn't pass on its own then the doctor would probably schedule a D&C. (12 replies)
... Hi there, I had a D&C after i miscarried in Dec 06..... & my doctor also told me to wait atleast 2 normal periods so that my body could get back to normal! I have heard of people concieving straight away & being successful..... & others not so lucky, but i guess the waiting just gives your body the chance to recover & prepare properly for when you do try to concieve again!... ... I just got home today after my DNC and I am having the same symptoms. I also still have heavy bleeding along with terrible cramps! ... (2 replies)
... I also found out at my 12w that there was no heart beat. THis was almost 2 yrs ago. I had a DNC right away. I passed pieces of tissue during the next 3 periods. including, in the first month, a HUGE piece! ... (3 replies)
... I haven't experienced but I too just had a DNC this week and they said that there is a possibility that they might not get everything during the procedure. ... (3 replies)
... For me, I had two regular cycles after my D&C, then the next one was 10 days early. It is pretty normal for this to happen, I was told, and not to worry. Everything will get back on track soon enough. My RE suggested not to even try to conceive again for 3 months after the m/c. I hope this helps. (3 replies)
... Hi Everyone, I have had (2) miscarriages and after both i had a very heavy period. Not really painful, just a lot of it. It was back to normal by the 2nd one though. As far as how long you should wait, i have seen 3 different doctors since the 1st one, and all of them said to wait 3-4 months. One of them said that your percentage of miscarring (sp?), goes down the... (9 replies)
