Do I Have MS???
Mar 26, 2005
Hi, I'm new to the board with some questions.

I am 28 years old and relatively healthy. I have had 3 'episodes' within the past year and half that my doc cannot yet determine. During these 'episodes' I have: extreme muscle weakness, pain throughout my body, tingly spinal pain, numbness in hands and feet, pins and needles in hands and feet, extreme fatigue, joint pain (fingers, hands, wrists, elbows, toes, feet, ankles, knees, hips), difficulty keeping eyes open all the way ( I can't get my contacts in either due to some pain), neck pain (really bad), and my joints seem to crackle when I move them.

There are probably some more symptoms that I may be forgetting. I feel like I'm about 90 years old if that helps explain it better. I also get these electrical 'shocks' in my head. They are not really painful, as they only last for a millisecond. They don't travel anywhere in my body. And they seem to be brought on by eye movements.

I also have muscle spasms everywhere... especially in my thighs and back. And my muscles seem to 'tense up' every now and again. They just tighten up for a little bit. I do not really have many headaches.

My PCP has run MRI's on my head and spine. I have also had an EMG and much bloodwork to rule out arthritis, lyme disease, etc. My MRI's were in the Open MRI not closed which I know isn't as accurate.

MS has come up most often when I am searching for clues as to what is wrong with me. Anyone know if this could be it? Wouldn't it have shown up on a test by now? I am getting really frustrated at this point. My PCP has told me that maybe it is just stress. I know that it isn't. When the 'episodes' start, there is nothing unusual at the time. They last for 1-3 months.

Any help or suggestions???

Kara
