I ask because I want to make sure that my husband's doctor tests him for everything. So far his doctor has been great and has tested him for some other things, but I just want to make sure.

Like I know he is being tested for Lyme disease, syphillis (not even sure if I spelled that right), they said it was not a stroke.

I want to ask the dr if he tested for a B-12 deficiancy, I heard that could be a possibility???

I just dont know what else he should be tested for.

What were you all tested for before getting dx ms?

Thank you all so much for taking the time to reply :)

Hi. I was diagnosed with MS five years ago. My rheumatologist is currently testing me for Sjogrren's Syndrome and Lupus. Both of these can mimic MS. I actually think that i was misdiagnosed and have Sjogren's and Lupus, instead of MS.

Hi. Some of my symptoms are joint pain, and a malar rash, which everyone now thinks is actually Rosacea. I became severly anemic while I was participating in a study for MS, but I also have a history of anemia. At the time of the study, I was also diagnosed with Raynaud's Phenomenon. I've noticed that I get more fatigued on a sunny day, and am getting a rash on my left thigh that is kind of circular. I had an ANA test done, but my rheumatologist said that my antibodies weren't high enough. What do you think? Thanks.

I have also read that hypothyroidism can have some similar symptoms too.
If you can get a full panel of thyroid tests, look into problems of underactive thyroid (Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, especially because it is another autoimmune disease-- MS is suspected of being autoimmune).

Most doctors will stop with the TSH test, but that will not indicate some conditions, so -- push until everything is tested.

When I took the test in May of last year the C3 and C4 was within normal range, but my total protein was a little high, if that means anything. I mostly have joint pain. My first ANA test that was done was positive (I'm not sure of the number) but my rheumy just said that was because of the Raynaud's. Thanks.
