I'm a 33 year old woman. I have been sick off and on for a while now. It started last year (approx Mar 10) with a numb foot, dizziness, tight chest and nausea. I thought that the dizziness and nausea was due to me studying a full time course and trying to run a household. I think started having episodes where I would get tunnel vision, tight chest, slurred speech, numb throat, vertigo, nausea and numbness down the right side of my body; from head to toe. I couldn't walk properly and felt like I needed to hold on to the wall to assist this. I went to hospital (Feb 11) for a week where they did a MRI, lumbar puncture and bloods. Everything was normal. I got referred to a neurologist (Mar 11) who said that I suffered from migraine dysfunction. I went on amitryptaline then noretryptaline, neither worked (took for approx 2 months). Turned out I had bad blood pressure and went on aspirin, cilizapril and bedroflurazide. Felt great, played a whole season of netball, once finished walked twice a week (hour each time). Just recently, about two weeks ago I went to the movies with my 7 year old, we had some lunch when I felt a bit hot and thought that my burger tasted a bit funny; then went to do the weekly shop at the supermarket. I was half way round the shop when I got the same episode of tunnel vision, dizziness, nausea etc. I rang my doctor and they asked whether I was alright to drive home or needed to see an emergency doctor. I thought that I was fine so I set off in the car. After about 10 minutes of driving, I noticed that I couldn't swallow, my throat was numb, then I couldn't speak, then my vision went blurred, my right side went numb from head to toe. My seven year old rang the ambulance. ECG came back clear, CT Scan at the hospital came back clear. My speech took 2 and half hours to recover to normal. I still couldn't walk properly. My reflexes in my knees also were not very good. I was discharged from emergency department and have been going back and forth to my doctor. We are investigating all sorts of things. I still have at least one episode a day and my walk is very bad afterwards. Sometimes effecting me all day or just for a few hours. I still have numbness in my foot and leg and face, this is all the time. Off and on my throat is numb and I find it hard to swallow. I'm fatigued all the time, before, after, during episodes. The last time this happened it took me a long time to recover before I felt well enough to play sport. This has been going on for a long time now and I need just a little bit of info or someone to have a look at whats going on who might have some other answers as to what is happening to me?
All your help on this would be very much appreciate. Any information is welcome.
Megan
