Re: MS Symptoms ?
Nov 29, 2012
Hi Thysis and welcome to healthboards.

Your question is a double edged sword. As reputable as many of the facilities are which you mention; looking up symptoms is a really bad idea. You will always be steered wrong, especially with regard to MS, because MS mimics 300 other diseases! That means just because you have SOME or even MOST of the symptoms of MS, you will still probably have a 1:300 chance of having some other illness/ disease.

To further complicate it, MS is a "snowflake" disease, meaning no two cases are documented exactly alike. Although many of us have the more common symptoms alike, some of us have pains or issues which none of us have ever heard anyone else state...so yes, it is possible that your symptoms are not documented...

However, ringing ears, tintinitis, is usually explained easily enough and there are severeal tests which can tell a doctor exactly what is going on, why its happening. Have you been checked out by a ENT? (Ear, nose and throat specialist) . You really should if this persists.

MS is a disease of the central nervous system. Because this includes the brain, the body doesnt always respond in an explainable way. There is so much about the brain we dont understand yet. I hope you get your answers soon! Good luck with the EMG. Please do realize that both an EMG and LP will not conclusively diagnose you for MS, but they are in fact being done to rule out other (mimic-ing) diseases, which is exactly how you get closer to answers.
