Supplements
Feb 16, 2010
... Honestly Silver, Im not feeling any different. I have been taking these supplements for 3 years, but was taking all sorts of other things, like E, Tumeric, and Probiotics as well. When I had surgery a year ago, I went off everything (many of these supplements thin your blood, especially E and Fish Oils) and when I was cleared to start taking them again, I stopped the Tumeric,... ... Nikki, I just checked my fridge to make sure I'm not crazy -- the almond milk I have in there right now is 70 calories a cup which I think is less than even skim milk. Whew -- you got me nervous for a minute! It's possible you've been looking at the sweetened kind. My point about milk was soy, that there are other good (possibly better) alternatives for people trying to... (15 replies)

... Directly related to MS, I can't say. However, some research has shown that soy may adversely affect brain function. Other things unfermented soy products (tofu, milk, ice cream, etc.) have been linked to are decreased fertility in men, absorption of various nutrients and an increased risk of cancer. When soy is fermented (tempeh, tamari, miso), the harmful trypsin... (15 replies)

... Bearygood, do you know of any bad effects that soy can have on MS? I'm lactose intolerant and use a lot of soy products. I really like the taste of soymilk and soy ice cream especially. (15 replies)

... I relayed your situation as best I know it. I don't think you're on any Beta Blocker drugs but she said they can raise them. A more likely culprit in your case seems to be high glycemic carbs so as hard as it might be, try to cut down on your beloved pasta! Obviously, this also includes potatoes, white bread and sugar. Also reconfirmed that fish oil is absolutely... (15 replies)

... Nikki, I asked someone who might know about this -- I'll let you know as soon as I hear back. In the meantime, I did find that smoking is another culprit. Just add it to the list of reasons we need to quit! ;) (15 replies)

... Hi Nikki, I asked my grandmother (the holistic one) about this. The only thing she knew was that a Vitamin D deficiency can cause an increase in triglycerides. But I think I remember you saying in the past that you never had a deficiency. Sorry I can't be of more help. I just wanted to pass on what Grandma said! (15 replies)

... Hey there Bearygood. Figured Id give you a good laugh. I finally saw my Primary Care doc, who is an internist this week...took all my blood work from the past 2 years, showing how my Tri's keep going up and up (until the last one which dropped 15 points but is still "high" according to the lab.. My primary care doc first assumed it was from the Rebif, which he then found... (15 replies)
