Too much vinegar??
Feb 22, 2007
I've been treating my toenails with white distilled vinegar twice a day for about 3 weeks. I've been soaking a cotton ball and coating the whole nail plus making sure the vinegar got on the cuticle and under the lifted nail plate. I didn't think there would be a problem with using more than a few drops of vinegar. My nails grow fast so I already see a little bit of pink at the cuticle. Here's the problem - 5 days ago I noticed a white fuzzy spot at the edge of the nail on the open end. Then yesterday when I took off my sock I saw the white spot was gone, but the lifted area had increased towards the center of my nail by about 2mm! Can a fungus grow that fast? Or did I cause the nail to lift more because I used so much extra vinegar on it? I made sure to only put a couple of drops from a medicine dropper on the nails today.

Also, I'm thinking of using Reclear under the area of lift, but I'm not sure how best to apply it. It's so gel-like how can I get it under the nail?

Thanks in advance for your help!
