Hello NHChic,

I am not a Doctor. I started out w PN w burning sensation in feet then ankles. I have since developed tightness in calfs and subsequently in many other muscles, as well as all over twitching.

I have had an EMG/NCV. I returned to neurologist several times with no further explanation other than idiopathic neuropathy.

Just wanted to let u know you are not only one out there w unexplained symptoms.

Thanks,

James
Neuromuscular doctors focus on mnd type issues. Typically you would be referred to one by your neurologist if you have an abnormal clinical exam or an abnormal EMG. In my case I did not have either, other than diminished ankle reflexes.

My primary symptoms are burning sensation in ankles, fasciculations, and all over muscle pain/spasms/cramping.

I understand that fasciculations are common in otherwise healthy people, cramping however not as much, especially not 24/7 cramping from toes to neck.

I have also considered a skin biopsy for SFN. At this point gonna give neuromuscular doctor the next try. If she gives me the all clear then on to internist.

Just keeping my fingers crossed with no MND as both neurologists have said.

Isn't the internist one that take a guess what's wrong before they send you to someone else?
