COLOR=Purple]I have had PN for a couple of years. Although at first it was diagnosed as Tarsal Tunnel (carpal tunnel for the feet). So I had surgery on my feet for Tarsal Tunnel - but guess what - that wasn't the problem. Seems it was actually the PN. It wasn't their fault really, the signs and tests pointed to the TT, unfortunately they were also the signs for PN. I started on the Neurontin/Gabapentin only, didn't really seem to make much of a difference. My new Neurologist has put me on Topamax for my PN, I am on it in addition to Neurontin/Gabapentin. I take 300mg of the N/G in the am and pm and I take 25mg of the Topamax in the am and 50 in the pm. I know it must help a little because I had the stomach flu a few months ago and couldn't take anything cuz it wouldn't stay down. Those few days proved that the drugs were working because the pain became even more excruciating than it normally is. So at least I got proof (in a round about way ) that it works, but it's just not enough. I don't ever really want to do any of the things I used to because it just hurts too much. I have percocet for the pain, but if I take what I need to kill the pain all the way I would be unconcious! All I can hope for is enough to dull the pain and still function in society without falling asleep or passing out. I try not to take more than 3 or 4 tabs a day. My neurologist has also just recommended Alpha Lipoic Acid 600mg a day. I am going to give it a shot, figure what have I got to lose! I will let you all know if it makes any difference after about 30 days, figure I have to give it at least that long.

Everyone have a great and as pain free as possible week!
