There are many forms of Neuropathy, some of them are idiopathic, so not always a reason for it. Have you been checked for diabetes, or B12 deficiency? My neuropathy is from damage caused by untreated pernicious anemia (B12 malabsorbtion)Your neurologist will probably give you some tests to see if he can find the cause. Neuropathy can be a progressive disease, difficult to treat as nerve pain medicene is still in the dark ages so it seems. Neurontin works for some and the new med cymbalta is suppose to be aimed at diabetic neuropathy. Various treatments are out there but none really work all that well for everyone. I get B12 injections every 3 weeks, I am going on the new med cymbalta next week, I have polyneuropathy and also RSD in left hand. I do meditation, use massage therapy and take lots of anti inflamatories.
