Try keeping your arm straight and your shoulders back as well. If there is compressionat the elbow, bending it will make the pain and numbness worse. If compression is at the shoulder, make sure not to slouch forward and try not to raise your arm.
It's hard to do this when you sleep, but important.
I agree with not rushing into surgery. Get several opinions. I had ulnarnerve transposition two years ago as well as having a bone spur removed from my shoulder. I got some relief for awhile, but it's back worse than ever. Still trying to find out where the nerve is actually compressed, but it's not easy.
