Not sure if I should post this here or the foot 'area'.
Has anyone had a complete footdrop with no activity on their EMG, then had a posterior tibial tendontransfer but then had a post-surgery EMG with some activity showing?
I had a footdrop as a result of a herniation in L5-S1. I had back surgery which did not correct the footdrop. 5 EMGs later and no activity, I had a tendontransfer in 1/07 with a small revision in 11/07. I really never had mouch movement upwards in my foot post op...maybe 10 degrees or 2 inches. The surgeon thinks the nerves are firing but the musle is too weak to move the foot up so he told me to get an EMG. It will be my first post-tendontransfer.
Walking without my AFO is tough as I get tired easily and really feel its a hassle so I just walk with it (even though the goal of the surgery was to get rid of it eventually). Even walking with my AFO, I have been very tired recently. I have some peroneal muscle pain and it feels as if my ankle is twisted a lot of the time.
What does everyone think especially about the EMG?
