Motor vs sensory
Mar 12, 2010
I wonder, is there a clear difference between a pure motor neuropathy vs a pure sensory one?

I'm diagnosed with a pure motor neuropathy where some signs of muscular weakness came out on an EMG test, but my symptoms are mostly sensorial.

I do have some weakness, but really my main trouble is with numbness/tingling, pain/burning/pins and needles, muscle ache/fatigue/weakness/twitching, in that order.

There is not a mention of any sensorial damage both on EMG/NCV, and in my two neurological examinations, reflexes, sensitivity, coordination, all were pretty normal both times.

I must say that there is a huge anxiety component in my case, but I still can't find anywhere that anxiety/stress alone can give you this pain and symptoms...

Well maybe in Fibromyalgia, but my second doctor tested me for the usual sensitive spots, and I came clear, and the pain in my case is mostly felt in my arms and legs, not all over the place.

Anyone can tell the difference? Is there any?
