Not all neuropathy can be detected ny an EMG and nerve conduction study. Mine came back normal. My symptoms quickly worsened (severe foot pain and swelling, tingling, burning sensations, numbness, which was at first only perceived in my feet, but has now moved to legs, hands, arms, face, and trunk. My feet were having comstant spasms. I was diagnosed with Small Fiber Neuropathy. This was confirmed by a skin biopsy. With SFN, the large fibers are fine so those other tests can't detect it. The small fibers detect pain and temperature, so it hurts badly and isn't relieved by total numbness as in other neuropathies. Your best bet is to see a Neurologist in a hospital connected to a University that has a Med school, because most general practitioners and a surprising # of Neurologists don't know about this condition.

I wish you the best!

Jim
