... Terri: Surgery should always be the very last choice. Recovery is tough & then U R left w/ scar tissue. Good news is that scarring can thicken & actually crush nerve endings sometimes. Most of the time, like 5 yrs. later, the relief turns to a different pain because scarring can get worse & pinch nerves close by the original injury & U have new pain. No one knows except...
