... Dear Tanya - Just hearing another voice in this is really comforting. Thank you. I see that your position has improved. As I wrote it has only been a month and a half but I had to hear how others experienced this. The pain is almost gone in the mornings up until late afternoon when it really strangles me, and as I feel gets progressively worse into the evening. Also I have now... (8 replies)

... Hi Graeme... Sorry I haven't posted for such a long time, but I've been playing hooky on the computer because it was giving me a lot of trouble and it took a while to straighten it out...Windows XP are your is your left knee feeling and is the physical therapy helping with the dorsiflexion? As for myself, the therapy has been hard work and the... (29 replies)

... Hi Tanya How you getting on? Sounds like you must be doing really well if the doctors are looking at you open-mouthed! Am really pleased for you, it seems to be going a helluva lot better than you had anticipated before. Either that or you were like me and just presumed the worse beforehand! Any updates? Saw my consultant today, 6 weeks since getting the cast off. As... (29 replies)

... Hi JJ Nice to hear from you. You could do a lot worse than listen to Tanya's advice. She's been helping me with information, compassion and advice for several months now and it's all been invaluable. She knows what she's talking about! Graeme (2 replies)
... Hi! I fell down on 4-10-08 during a final bad blizzard and hurt my right knee initially. I did have P.T. for that knee for 2 1/2 weeks and now its doing great. I can bend it normally and it functions at a normal level. I saw my Othopedic at a 3 week check up and at that time I was experiencing some off/on tingling and persistent some numbness on the outer side of my lower... (1 replies)

... Hi Graeme, Thanks for the updated info about the driving...although we all have foot drop, there are so many versions of the same thing that abilities vary from person to person. From your description of the operation, I didn't think that the driving issue would change for you right away, but lots of exercise and time can make quite a difference. The most important thing is... (29 replies)

... Hi Andi - hope you have/had a great holiday. Quite jealous! Let me know how it went without the splint. Quite intrigued that you think you might need a SAFA, do you not feel you can get by without some kind of support? Meeting my consultant in a fortnight so will see what he says (probably not a lot based on previous experience....) Graeme (29 replies)
... Hi Andi...have a good time on your vacation and enjoy, sun, and sangria sounds wonderful. I was just wondering what kind of AFO you have, insofar as you can drive...I haven't tried driving yet, so I don't know what will or won't you wear a plain plastic AFO, a hinged AFO, or one of the new carbon things...thanks for the info... Best, Tanya (5 replies)
... Graeme - How you desrcibe your situation is exactly how i would describe my own with regards to the walking. I guess i like wearing the afo as it just makes it easier i guess. By the way i bet your missus wasnt so complimentary on your walking on the way BACK from the pub!!! I guess i am happy about it to be honest. Like you all i really wanted was when on holiday to be... ... Hi Andi...thanks for asking about the operation...really, it was a little nothing thing, and I made more out of it than it was worth...I was walking around right for your surgery, perhaps you just have to give it some more my doctor is so fond of saying, we all heal at different times...which foot is your problem foot...right or left...was just wondering... ... hi andi I would say it is noticeably easier to walk without about the house for example without the AFO. I just walked about to try to see if I was still lifting the knee/flicking my ankle like before. I dont think as much but it's hard to tell without a full-length mirror. My missus said she watched me walking to the pub the other day after she dropped me off and thought I... (5 replies)
... I really dont feel comfortable walking with shoes and without my afo, it feels too unstable and slightly dropped still. Graeme, when you walk without your afo does your heel strike the floor first? I dont think my surgeon has lifted my foot up enough before fixing the tendons. I am walking with my afo all the time its the only way i feel confident and can walk at a pace i... (5 replies)

... Hi Tanya Sounds like you are making great progress, especially if the pain is subsidising so quickly. Is there a real hope that eventually you can get back to how you were before your injury? you must be pleased now you were brave enough to have the surgery - it seems like it was the right thing to do. How you finding the rehab? As for my situation, I guess I've... (29 replies)

... Hi Graeme... The past few days have been uneventful, and so far I've noticed that at least I have my knee used to feel as if a tourniquet was around it, and I couldn't take a full stride without something sticking inside my knee. Now it feels ankle still feels as if someone is grabbing it tightly, but it's not quite as bad as for function, I... (29 replies)

... Hi guys Tanya - first up, that's great news about your operation. The fact that the pain was noticeably down so quickly was a great sign. How's it been the last few days? What's the next step for you? Andi - what's been happening with you? still not 100 percent happy with it? I'm doing ok. You guys seemed to both have more dorsiflexion/movement than I did beforehand... (29 replies)
... Kippa - Sounds like I'm in a similar position to you (but without the sloping) and had a similar procedure done. I can't dorsiflex and the doc says it might come with time or it might not. Been almost 2 weeks since I got the cast off and no sign of any movement yet so not really getting my hopes up. Still limping a bit, even with the splint on. You happy with your result? (3 replies)

... Hi Tanya How's things? Are you all set for Thursday? What exactly will they do? And what happens after? I want to wish you all the very best of luck. I'm sure it will all go well. Please come on here and tell us as soon as you can. :) My situation is improving gradually day by day. I'm walking pretty well without my AFO when I have my trainers (sneakers in American!) on... ... Hi Graeme... Guess I do sound like a foot drop salesman, but I happen to go to PT at a famous Ortho / rehab hospital in New York. During my sessions, I'm sort of like a fly on the wall observing all the new latest and greatest things for drop foot, even if they don't apply in my particular case...also, 5 months of nothing to do but heal broken bones, gave me plenty of time... ... Hi Kippa10... Glad to hear you're doing so well after your surgery...there was another poster from the other board...I think her name was Lynn and she also had the tendon transfer surgery... she also said that her foot got tired when walking around without the brace. This may or may not be an option for me somewhere down the line, but I was just curious how much you can... (3 replies)
... Kippa good to hear from you again. Hows things? I was thinking of your situation when i went back in last week, half expecting to be told I needed another 6 weeks in the cast. Instead it was the opposite and I was told just to get on with it with no walking boot or physio! Bit weird. My foot is still swollen too though it has gone down noticeably since last week. Do you...
