I read about the atril fib side effect a few months ago on another web-site listing sideeffects of all the osteo drugs. Actonel was also listed as possibly causing heart problems and skin cancer.
I have osteopenia in my hips, my spine went to zero (normal) from osteopenia after taking Ezorb calcium supplements (I learned about E-zorb from this board). One doc wanted to give me Actonel and I refused, and another doc said I have time to wait for safer drugs than the biophosphonates if osteoporosis does develop down the road. I am in a better position right now to refuse the biophosphonates and other osteo meds than some who post here, it's a tough decision whether to medicate or not, and I hope the biophosphonates don't have serious sideeffects for all our sakes, but I'm not willing to take a chance on them right now.
