My oncologist has said Evista wouldn't work for me
I'd be interested to know why he said that, because Evista is a SERM just like tamoxifen. If tamox was okay for you, why isn't Evista? Have you had DVT or other blood clot problems?
My doctor checked with my oncologist and he said I could take [Forteo] but I still wonder.
You SHOULD wonder. You should ask your onc if he has read Forteo's maker Eli Lilly's statement that says:

"The drug should not be prescribed for patients at increased baseline risk for osteosarcoma, including patients with Paget's disease of bone or unexplained elevations of alkaline phosphatase, children or growing adults, or those who have had prior external beam or implant radiation therapy involving the skeleton."

That's us, honey. I just wouldn't risk it if I were you.

And by the way, my spine BMD has improved from -3.0 to -2.7 on Evista in the three years I've been taking it. I'm hoping my next DXA will push me up into the osteopenia range. If so, I think it's doing its job.
