... ive up the Evista. I have gone to 3 endos. The first said I was going to be dust, the 2nd wants me to get Zometa allergy testing and the 3rd gave me samples of liquid Fosamax. ... (72 replies)
... Hi Tara, Yes, the IN dosage chart is different because of the concentration and that, unlike most calcium products, almost all of it is being absorbed. If you look at the left hand side of the ingredient chart you will see that the ingredients are from 1200 mg. of calcium. Considering your age and your low T-score, you probably only need to take 1 Tbl. a day. If you go to 1... (16 replies)

... Yes, Fosamax can cause calification in many places in the body and I think you are wise to question continuing to take it. But Why does your doctor get the last word? ... (12 replies)

... Hi Suggi, I'm so sorry you have such troublesome complications. From what I've read (and this info was dated Dec. 2004 so it's pretty fresh) osteonecrosis of the jaw occurs in an estimated 1 person per 10,000 taking IV biphosphonates. I don't know if this makes you feel any better about it, but of those who take it, most are being treated for cancer which means they have also... (34 replies)
... I have been reading your posts about the liquid calcium that you take. I just started taking it, but am a little confused by the dosage. ... (16 replies)

... Suggi!!!! Unfortunately, I don't. Personally, I don't have the reflux, etc. esophageal problems, but just because of the small intestine Crohn's I wouldn't take Fosamax or Actonel in pill OR liquid form. We each have to weigh our own risks and how much risk we are willing to take. ... (22 replies)
... I went to another endo and guess what. She wants to be more aggressive. Gave me liquid Fosamax which I just know will kill my stomach....the gatritis is really bad even with all the anti acid meds I am on. Seeing my gastro doc Friday. ... (34 replies)
... I can't stand Fosamax, but at least it's not as bad as Actonel. I was put on Actonel in 2003 because one of my GP's (I've got 3) was worried about my DEXA scores at the time: I was born with a bone & joint disease already placing me at risk, plus was on Decadron constantly throughout the 90's for my chronic asthma and lung problems. My doctor knew (and still knows) very... (58 replies)
... tried Tums give it a whirl maybe. I did have bad "pure blood" diarrehea in the beginning but then it went the other way. I do get cramping also so probably the Fosamax wouldn't help that. Since I can't really take anything for the Crohn's, I would hate to risk getting another blood attack. ... (22 replies)

... I was prescribed Boniva and took for one year to treat Osteopena in my hips. I quite taking because I could not afford, and friends were warning me about long term affects. About a month after getting off the Boniva, I started having severe stomach problems. If I ate something solid, about 30 minutes later I was doubled over with pain. I thought it was a bug at first but... (15 replies)
... and think I will stick with him. I asked him about the Fosamax patch and he said "not in the next 6 months" so there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I figure I can wait that long to change drugs. ... (22 replies)
... m to bother me. I have been to 3 endos. The first said I am going to be dust, the 2nd said I should be allergy tested for Zometa and the 3rd gave me samples of liquid Fosamax and said if I can't take it she will give me Pamidronate IV every 3 months. ... (7 replies)
... Mom's Four, No secret, really. First, I make sure I get weight-bearing exercise at least 3 times a week (more if you are able). I have been eating low-carb for 10 years, way before the craze started. I just find I have more energy and feel better, also (although I'm slim) this keeps any added weight from developing on the mid section. As for Vitamins, here is what I take: ... (72 replies)

... Just that. It is a cal/mag/vitamin D product in liquid form so it is highly absorbable (a problem with most calcium products). The kind I have been using for years is made by Innovative Natural and can be purchase at HFS or on-line. P (12 replies)

... Marilou, I do not know how my scores compare to others. I am not even so concerned about them anymore (the Myth book gives some relevant information about this test). However, I will say that following my regime my scores decreased in a year. Regarding calcium intake, I used to take 2 tbl. a day (1 AM and 1 PM.) Now I take only 1 1/2 tbl. once a day. The important thing... (72 replies)
