... I have been looking for information on Forteo also - my doctor hasn't mentioned it but I'm interested in learning as much as I can about the different treatments. Right now, it seems like it's rarely prescribed because it is so new and so expensive. However, it does sound like it's more effective than the other drugs. So I think I would be interested in trying it, but I will... (12 replies)
Yoga as exercise

... Are you saying that the yoga caused you to have surgery? Just wondering as I often think I should be doing yoga as I am in my 60's and not too limber. Had a couple of horseback riding accidents that have left me with back problems (I go to chiropractor) and apart from specific back exercises I usually do 2mile walks every day for workouts.I tested on the negative side on bone... Yoga as exercise

... I have severe osteoporosis, my rheumy has advised against any weight lifting or jogging and only walking or eliptical machines. No weights on wrist or ankle. Yoga doesn't have as much weight bearing as you think, great for stretching and losening up, for balance and endurance as well, and even if you are in good shape the potential to get hurt is there. I ended up in surgery... (8 replies)
... Afternoon folks. I was intrigued by the postings for over 35 yo with the 'bad' scores. I have similar scores. I am 44, am considered premenopausal as I have had no menopausal symptoms yet. My hip scores were 1.3 and 1.1. Off the charts for my age, but spine L1/L2 was -2.4. MD wanted to immediately to go on Fosomax. I have some concerns because she could not tell me what the... ... Hi Penguin! It's good to hear from someone in Australia. I'm in SA. I take a Calcium(Ca) supplement & Calcitriol every day, just to try and kick my bones into order (excuse the pun). I'm not losing Ca so Fosamax didn't have any effect. Altho' I'm severely osteoporitic, my bone regrowth cells aren't switched on. FORTEO is a SYNTHETIC PARATHYROID HORMONE (PTH)made in USA, &... 20 with osteopenia

... I am 26 years old and I just found out 2 days ago that I also have osteopenia. It seems very odd that someone in their 20's would have this problem. I am going to continue searching for reasons why this has happened. I am looking into the topic malabsorption. This is where your body will not absorb the vitamins and minerals from your food as it goes through your body. So... (19 replies)
... I also recently had a DEXA scan and I'm learning so what I know is not a whole lot. Here's what I can tell you though and this is taken right off my DEXA report. If your T-score range is from -1 to -2.5 then this indicates low bone mass or sometimes called osteopenia. If your T-score range is below -2.5 then osteoporosis is what the experts call it. I'm really... (9 replies)
