... Hi DesertBloom. Has your doctor said anything about taking hormones with the forteo? I'm asking because I go to an alternative doc who is recommending low dose bioidentical HRT (including testosterone). He knows about the FORTEO, but is not an expert. (15 replies)

I asked my dr if I could go on calcitonin/myacalcin nasal spray, to help the pain I have, and she said no. One thing I don't remember you mentioning is your t-score; depending on what it is that would have an effect on what med they might prescribe. Since my score didn't improve much from Actonel (-3.6 spine) they switched me to Forteo because that med is reserved for those who can't tolerate Bisphosphonates... (12 replies)

... Originally I took Evista after breast cancer and then continued it for its other benefits making a total of myacalcin, caltrate, evista and fosamax BEFORE forteo. I have excellent drug coverage, as I also take Enbrel for rheumatoid arthritis which is very expensive. My density scores were slipping slightly nevertheless. ... low bone mass can have so many causes: lack of calcium & vit.
