Osteopenic spine
Apr 26, 2005
... I just received the results of a bone density test done because I am on prednisone to treat chronic urticaria. I haven't discussed the results with the doctor yet - my appointment is the end of the week - but I know that the result was spine: greater than 70, and neck: 49. I assume this means the age equivalent, but I really don't know what I am getting into with this. I... (2 replies)

... Hi and Welcome, All of the bone density test results I have received indicate a T Score number plus a Z Score number. Like I have an overall T-Score of -2.6. Do you see any numbers like that on your test report. If your numbers are in the positive then you don't have low bone density. For bone density improvement my doctor told me to take a Calcium supplement with Vit D,... (2 replies)
... I'm not sure why no one responded to my post. It was my first, and maybe I didn't follow some protocol I'm not aware of. Or maybe nobody has anything to say, or wants to say anything. That's ok; I'm on other boards too. Also mine isn't a garden-variety post. The fact that I had wt. loss surgery means I need tailored advice, and I'm working on that, but I'm here to learn what I... ... Tilly, I am new at this too, as I just learned yesterday I was osteopenic. But I am only 42, premenopausal, with a healthy lifestyle, so I was greatly disturbed and immediately began researching the internet. I too did not understand the scores on the DEXA, so I looked up on the internet "DEXA scan scores." I learned that for the T-Scores, -1 to -2.5 is considered... (3 replies)

... Hi Irene: I must not have explained my brothers situation very well, so I'll try again :). He just had his *first* bmd, on my recomendation, and I believe his score was borderline normal/osteopenic, in the hips and .1 or .2 higher in the spine. He never would have had the test if I hadn't made him promise me he would do it, because he felt it's a womens problem, which is... (13 replies)
