Osteopenia, as you know, is the precurser to osteoporosis, and it can certainly slow down your healing because you aren't replacing bone as quickly as you did as a youngun. ... I do believe Vit D deficiency causes limb pain, like a deep aching bone pain. Mine is better since supplementing the Vit D. You don't really need PTH testing unless your serum calcium levels are high. It will take a few weeks for your D levels to come up, and you should see some gradual improvement in the pain.
