Hi, I have heard contradicting things about whether using condoms if you are only with one partner will help prevent the reccurence of dysplasia. However, the last word I heard was what my doctor told me. She said that if you got the HPV from your monogamous partner, using condoms will not make a difference because he is carrying the same strain of the HPV virus that is already in you. Therefore, she said, you cannot get reinfected with the same strain and being re-exposed to it will not make a difference. However, being exposed to another strain of HPV from another partner for example can have an effect on your dysplasia returning. Again, i do want to point out i have heard and read different things on this, but this is what my doctor told me when i asked her about it. Take care, Alex :)

So, if he smokes it really wouldn't hurt or make the dysplasa re-appear again? We always use condoms since I am not on the pill right now although I've heard that being on the pill makes it (the dysplasia) come again also. I feel as though I'm domed either way with this whole Dysplasia thing. Mine has only been the Mild stage and my doctor is monitoring it and I pray and hope it just goes away. But being that my boyfriend smokes and I'm sure he has been exposed to it will it make my dypslaisa worst??
