Hello,
I recently had an abnormal pap smear and had a colposcopy done. Now I have to have the leep preformed. My doctor is using general anestetic on me and I am just wondering how many days will it take for me to be able to walk around and do normal activities with ease including walking up and sown stairs. I am in college and do alot of running around and my finals are two weeks after my operation and I am scared that it will hurt my grades because I may not be able to study because of discomfort. Also, I have HPV and was just wondering if there is any extra ways for me to prevent the visible HPV from returning. I know that by keeping your immune system in good condition it is helpful...but should I take vitamins...and if I should which ones and which brands are the best??? I am just scared. I have never had surgery before.

I'm sorry you’re going through this! Having HPV is such an annoying situation. I'm assuming you have both strains of HPV since you have the visible kind (Warts) and Dysplasia? My advice to you is to exercise to help keep the immune system strong, take a multi-vitamin along with 400mg of folic acid. Although some people don't do anything and still maintain to never have a re-occurrence again and then there are some females that are health nuts and still get re-occurrence. I've told this over and over again that HPV is different in every female’s body. Oh and if you smoke... Stop ASAP.

I haven't had a procedure other then a colops and pap smears but I believe you can enjoy your normal activities the next day. Just don't have SEX or use tampons for the next 4-6 weeks I believe. Remember, you want your cervix to heal nicely for them to be able to monitor it years to come and no infections you know?
