One other indicator of infection is a fever...

The two main questions they will ask is are you soaking one pad an hour for a few hours and do you have a fever.

A light discharge is quite common - mine lasted for six weeks and was a light pink color, with some dark mixed in for the first couple weeks (getting rid of the Monsel's solution that reduces bleeding from the wound site), and sometimes it was more watery than anything. Some ladies have a really dark ash-like discharge. Others have profuse bleeding which require medical attention. Most of us I think have just enough of a discharge that warrants a pantiliner and maybe even a thin pad. However, ANYTIME you are concerned about what is happening with your body you should call your doctor just to get his/her opinion.

hope that helps

Karen
