Remember though, a cone is a more invasive surgery..with higher risk of complications or issues later on....it takes more out (which is sometimes necessary) but leeps 'took over' because they are able to do a good job while taking the least amount possible....If the ecc is positive they do the cone as well. Also, im not sure what your dr meant by the leep not allowing you to take biopsies to the lab , they loop it off and take that to the lab (so you should have gotten those results / margins etc) , then they cauterize (so yes it can make future readings difficult, but IMO I'd rather do a few repeat paps/colpos etc and avoid cutting part of my cervix out w/ a cone , if possible....
