Cancer: Cervical & Ovarian Message Board

Cancer: Cervical & Ovarian Board Index

I just wanted to mention that if they were looking for cancer of the cervix they would have been doing a biopsy of the cervix and not and ultrasound. They call it a Colposcopy. I had an abnormal pap about 3 years ago and they did a Colposcopy/biopsy to check to see how serious it was. Then from the results it showed it was not cancer but moderate cervical dysplasia. If left untreated it can turn into cancer. I had it removed in a procedure called the "Leep" they take an electrical wire loop to cut out the bad cells. I have had normal pap smears ever since.

I also have had a couple ultrasounds before for pains I was having by my left ovary. It was a cyst which is very very common. I had pain off an on then I agreed to go on birth control pills and I no longer get the pain anymore. A woman naturally gets smalls cysts every month during her cycle. Usually they go away. Sometimes they just keep getting bigger and bigger. The birth control pill stops the body from ovulation and stops the cyst from growing. That has been my experience anyway. While they were in there they found 3 fibroids in my uterus. One of them is pretty big he says and fills about 1/3 of my uterus. He said it is very common and they don't really do anything about it unless it becomes painful. But like I said the birth control pill has stopped any pain that I have had. I take it on a continous basis. I only let myself have a period every 4 months. This works very well for keeping any cysts from forming. Try not to fret over it too much. It is so common you would not believe it.
