Cancer: Cervical & Ovarian Board Index

Hi Sharon-

This is a long story but I will try to give you the Reader's Digest version.

Back in March of 2005 I was diagnosed with Anal Cancer. It was a lymp node in the groin that was removed that showed the cancer. Since the area that the lymp node came from was in the groin, the surgeon sent me to my gyno because he assumed that it was gyno related. I pointed out to my gyno that I had a hemmroid (sp?), that would not go away. (I have Crohn's, so hemms are not unusal). She did a colpo, and a biospy of the hemm (tumor!!), after finding out that it was, what I thought a hemm, was a tumor. At any rate, the results of the colpo showed moderate dysplasia, my gyno referred me to this jerk, just to rule out any cancer that may be festering. My appointment with him was a few days after my diagnosis of cancer, so of course I was still spinning from the news and all the preparing for my treatment to start (port being installed, chemo, radiation, etc...), I was still very upset. So, I meet with this man, I was trying to stay composed, and the first thing out of his mouth is: "I hope you don't want kids, because the radiation is going to fry your ovaries". So need I say how the rest of the appointment went?????

He is just a pompass, unsympathetic, no bed side manner, piece of crap! Mind you, I was in the middle of planning my wedding which did take place Oct 1, 2005, I was 38 at the time, and still battleing over wether or not I wanted children and the clock was almost done ticking! My husband did want children, so we will still tryng to figure out if children was something I/we wanted to venture in. The appointment ended, where he thought I should take care of the life threatening disease first, (wouldn't some kind of gynological cancer be just as life threatening?????) and come back and see him after my treatment was completed. I did put it off for as long as I could, because in the mean time I had another pap that still came back adnormal and my reg gyno begged me to go back to the jerk because she did not feel comfortable doing a cone biopsy because my insides from the radiation, and being menopausal, made it like a maze she said. So my next appointment with him was this past May, and needless to say he was the same ruthless jerk as last year. The visit started off with: "Geez, I knew you would be fried, but I didn't think it would be this bad." Where is the professionalism? Are these terms that a doctor should be using? And again, where is the compassion for someone who literally had 1st degree burns from radiation in her crotch and groin?????!!!!

I tried to make it a short version and I am sure I have left out some things, but I think from this you will get the point.:D
