Hi Kate! Boy, what a stressful situation you are dealing with. FWIW.....cervical polyps are very common and are growths on the cervix. These can cause abnormal pap results if I remember correctly--though I can be wrong. Do you know what the exact results of the pap were (ex: atypical, low grade, high grade, etc)?

I had my first abnormal pap (after 10 years) in 2005. The results were LSIL (low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion). I had a colposcopy where 6 biopsies and a ECC (endocervical curettage) were performed. The results were HSIL (high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion) extending well into my endocervical canal. I had a very aggressive LEEP cone biopsy in June 2005 that confirmed HSIL but the margins were clear. I recently got a ASCUS pap in May (atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance). As this can mean anything, I'm just having a repeat at 6 months (in November). Fingers crossed that all is well. Though I had HPV, it seems to be "dormat" now since the HPV DNA test they did after the ASCUS pap was negative. That is good, of course but, with my history, I'll ALWAYS worry!

Anyhow, I hope all is well and you just have a cervical polyp--which are almost ALWAYS benign. Are you having any bleeding with intercourse? Sorry if TMI! Polyps can bleed with intercourse as well as anything that causes contact with the cervix.

GL! Let us know how things go tomorrow!

~Elle
