Hi,

I have had personal experience with everything you're describing, so let me see if I can help.

The hyperechoic lesion or leiomyoma is a fibroid tumor. Fibroids are extremly common and are almost always benign, though they can cause problems with your periods.

It does appear that you have more ovarian cysts. Ovarian cysts are also almost always benign and very common as well. Each month, one ovary produces a small cyst which contains the egg. Usually, once the cyst ruptures and the egg is released into the fallopian tubes, the cyst dissolves, but sometimes they don't and can get larger. These are called functiional cysts.

With a condition called polycystic ovarian syndrome, your ovaries produce more functional cysts than are needed each month. This may be what is causing your multiple cysts, but then again, that's just a guess.

Does your doctor seem concerned about the cysts? If not, then there's probably nothing to worry about. I had a cyst on my left ovary for two years that changed sizes and eventually became a solid tumor. I had both ovaries removed in December, and everything was benign.

If the fibroid and/or the cysts become troublesome or are causing symptoms, there are different treatments that can be done.

Big hugs,

Lisa

Thank you for your reply. Is polycystic Ovarian Syndrome a serious condition?

With the first ultrasound, my doctor said not to worry and that the cyst will probably go away on its own. With the 2nd ultrasound, she said nothing to worry about and the cyst went down in size. I haven't talked to her about the 3 ultrasound yet. I go to her tomorrow. But now with this one, it says I have even more cysts than the 1st two and now the cyst got bigger than before.

I'm really nervous. I'm about ready to tell her to remove all of it. Give me a hystrectomy (sp) even though I want to avoid that but I'm so disgusted. I want these cysts gone.

The only problem I had with them was heavy periods (my guess is from the fibroid) but then I got an IUD inserted and now no bleeding. So far no pain and I hope it stays that way. What are the options for fibroids and cysts?

Thank you

Bernice
