Cancer: Cervical & Ovarian Message Board

Cancer: Cervical & Ovarian Board Index

I have had regular, yearly pap smears since the birth of my daughter. I recently had an abnormal pap smear, and the results came back HGSIL with carcinoma, however I tested negative for HPV. I had a colposcopy last Thursday, and two biopsy's were taken along with a test of inside my cervix (ECC). I am very nervous about the results and what this means for me. I have an appointment scheduled for 7/25 to find out the results of the biopsy and ECC, but I can't help but feel confused about what I may be going through. I feel extremely anxious about what the results could be. Is it normal not to have HPV with HGSIL? I am also concerned about the carcinoma detected in my pap smear. Is it possible to develop cervical cancer in such a short period of time?
Will someone with experience in this please give me some insight as to what I may be experiencing. Has anyone ever had pap results like mine? Does anyone know or have a guess as to how severe this could be? Thank you in advance for your insight.
