Since your pain started shortly after giving birth, I would wonder if you have some endometritis, an infection of the lining of the uterus, often caused by a bit of retained placenta. The pain would feel like severe period cramps. That can be diagnosed somewhat just on pelvic exam, if there is a lot of tenderness with uterine movement. A cyst is a possibility as well, also felt on exam. If you go to planned parenthood, you pay on a sliding scale to your income. They could do an exam and advise whether you might need an ultrasound, etc. They might also explore other BC options besides the pill. I would get this checked out, as ignoring it could be dangerous or harmful to your reproductive system.
