... please get all your papers and ask for more details :) its best to decide on these things when you're informed! the stages of abnormal cells range from mild (cin1) to moderate (cin2) and severe (cin3)...then stage 1 cancer. "Atypical" can be a stage even before cin1, that's very mild and can even be caused by a yeast infection, or a fale positive pap etc..usually won't require... (8 replies)

... women have had a cerclage and not only because they have had a procedure done to removed dysplasia. Also, there is a very, very minor risk of stenosis where the cervix might be affected by scar tissue from the procedure that may prevent the cervix from dilating during labor. ... (18 replies)
... The pap test scrapes the excocervix. I like to talk about the cervix like it is a frosted donut. The pap scrapes the frosting. ... (18 replies)
... Based on the interim normal paps since the abnormal one 5 years ago, it sounds like the abnormal cells and probably the HPV too resolved on their own. This is common in normal, healthy women especially younger ones. And your doctor is correct in saying that abnormal cells typically take many years (as many as 10) to develop into cancer. And most low grade lesions (CIN1 aka... (2 replies)
... Thank you so much Ktbee and Karen for your responses. I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Just a little history on my issue: September of last year my paps showed LGSIL. I got a colpo/biopsy and it came back as inflammation to the cervix. My doctor treated me and gave me a repeat paps 6 months later. The paps came back normal. I had another paps 6... (5 replies)
... What is your diagnosis exactly? Cryo really is only used for very mild cases, cin1...I had it about 4 yrs ago, and now I am at CIN3 (just had a leep/laser) .......I feel that for anything above cin1, it is not as effective enough It didn't hurt at all though - my colpo was worse than the freezing, but i didnt think the colpo was bad either...It was like cramps here and... ... I had endometrial ablation and tubligation and drainage of a large cyst on my right ovary done in 2005 when I was 30 years old. My periods stopped. However the other "PMS" symptoms are always there which is expected. Last week I had my PAP, which came back abnormal with high risk HPV and my breasts are tender. I went for my first mammogram which came back benign with dense... (1 replies)
... Julie, I really think you just need to go with your instinct on this (if your doctor is giving you a choice). The only thing that makes me think to go ahead and go with the mini-leep is your age. After the age of 30, women have a more difficult time fighting the virus. Personally, I'd be worrying about it if I waited-and-rechecked. When I had my hysterectomy for cervical... (18 replies)

... Hi there, the diagnosis you received in November of LSIL - was this through a pap? (I assume so - LSIL and HSIL tend to be a pap result). It is important to know that the pap is only a screening tool and not diagnostic. If the LSIL was through a pap and the CIN2 through the colposcopy biopsy it may be that you hadn't progressed at all but the pap result was incorrect. That... (10 replies)
... Hi! That is good news! It is quite probable that your body's immune system fought off the virus itself. You are only 20 so your body is at it's fitest making it easier to fight it off. Did you ever have a biopsy done during the colposcopies to diagnose the cin1 & 2? Sometimes when colposcopies can show cin 1 or 2 and then with the biopsy it is less. To be honest I would... ... I sure hope no ob/gyn or family practicioner says such things! The pap is only a screening tool - it isn't a diagnostic test. I tend to hear that type of comment more from women. And honestly, I use to think the pap detected ALL cervical changes and that absolutely is not true! The pap only detects cervical changes at the location the doctor swabs during the pap. The... ... Hi, OMG I cannot believe how vigilant you were and you had that happen. That is ridiculous. Do the doctors have any explanation for that? Freak of nature would not sit well with me I would want an explanation. I mean basically everyone I have spoken to says no one gets cc except those who have not had a pap in 10 years etc…Jeeze. I am so sorry. Thanks for the explanation... (18 replies)
