... I know it rather sucks to have to go through repeated pap smears and biopsies year after year, but you should be glad at least that there is no dysplasia present. ... (8 replies)
... I've had 5 years worth of ASCUS results with no HPV and I'm starting to get really put out. The first time they did a biopsy and it was normal. Then they repeated my PAP every 6 months for two years. Still never a good result. Then they moved back to once a year and just tell me they don't know why it's always suspect. ... (8 replies)
... colpo at that time. It was still ascus and she wanted to follow me in 6 mos which would've been by 1 yr with the other dr. I returned this time at 1 yr to my original dr or should I say NP. ... (25 replies)

... Update: Biopsy was normal but because this has gone on so long we did the Cryo to try and clear it up. Was not painful at all and very fast. I go back in a month to check the healing and then in March for a repeat PAP. I feel so much better that someone is at least trying to clear this up instead of just telling me to forget about it.:) (8 replies)
... Please let us know because I get the same results as you, but I have only benn getting them for two years instead of five like you. Someone mentioned that maybe the HPV strain isn't being pickec up? Is that possible? Has that happened to someone here before? (8 replies)
... I went for a second opinion and the new Dr was very nice. He said after 4 years another Colscopy should be done and did one that day. He saw some abnormal area and took a biopsy which I'll get back in a few days. He may also do Cryo anyway because of the persistancy of the problem. I feel so much better now that something is being done. (8 replies)
... I think it is still common to be negative and get these abnormal results. I think what is frusterating is that after having normal, you are all of the sudden not and it would be nice to clear up the problem and go back to the way it was before. I just expect my usual results and if it clears, great and if it progresses then I will deal with it when that time comes. (8 replies)
... Thanks that is what I keep getting. "Just wait and see if it gets worse over time." I know you would also rather not spend each year wondering if it is going to be worse either. (8 replies)
... I am in the same boat. I got my first in May of 2006 at my 6 week postpartum checkup after having m daughter. I was positive, but HPV negative. I went back in three months, then 3 months after that. They did a biopsy, finally. Then I had another and it was still the same. Now, this year I moved across the country and have new doctors and I still have the same results, positive... (8 replies)
... Have you been seeing the same doctor? Maybe get a second opinion? (8 replies)
... repeated PAP, showed ASCUS again. Referred for Colp. One day later colp done, dr saw "a couple of areas of concern". Took 4 biopsies again. ... (0 replies)
... and Cancer of the cervix. So, ASCUS is the mildest form. That said, the significance of the abnormality is Undetermined thus the US in ASCUS. Now, this is where HPV status comes in. ... (4 replies)
... I had my first abnormal pap 6 years ago with LSIL and high risk HPV, after 2 repeated tests I had a colposcopy done. After that my pap was normal for 3 straight years. ... (0 replies)
... I got a PAP that showed ASCUS last year, repeated in 3 months with negative colposcopy and normal PAP, repeated in 6 months and ASCUS again with HPV negative. So repeat in a year. ... (2 replies)
... Anyway, I asked to be put on a waiting list for canceled appointments and as luck would have it, I got in a few days later. She repeated the colposcopy and said that my cervix still looked really good, and did not in fact do a biopsy.. ... (6 replies)

... Hello ness79 Your pap at least in my opinion does not seem serious at all. By not serious, ofcourse I mean NOT cancer. You result is nowhere near that. Notice it says recommend repeat pap in one year. The pathologist is remarking that what they see is "consistent" with HPV which quite frankly doesn't mean very much. A result of LSIL (low grade Intraepethial... (13 replies)
... Don't worry about it yet! An ASCUS could very well mean just about anything........you could just have some inflammation or trauma from sex, tampons, etc. ... (30 replies)
... Thank you for your reply. Actually in my country tha pap smear should be done once a year and since I am not so young.... This time I delayed it for 6 months almost and it was out of the blue. The result was just ASCUS. If it was by HPV I think I should have been told on the result since there is a special field for this. Maybe it is another kind of infection and as my doc...
