... Karen, Adnexal means near the uterus. A cyst is a fluid-filled sac, quite common in menstruating women. For menopausal women, ovarian cysts are much less common. A "complex cyst" means that there are walls between the areas of fluid, or compartments. There is a higher chance that a complex cyst harbors ovarian cancer (versus a regular cyst), but it is a VERY slight... (14 replies)

... Thanks for responding and yes, I am scaring myself, mostly because I think I read too much. As for the size of the cysts, the functional cyst was about the size of a quarter and the complex with the separate areas (I keep forgetting the word) was about 4cm. She told me there were solid areas within it, but no free fluid (her words) The fibroid was located on the outside... (5 replies)
