Kathy - I started taking Paxil about 18 months ago. I took 12.5 mg a day. The first 3 days I felt really nauseous and almost stopped taking it - but I stuck with it. In about 2 weeks I started feeling much better. I always took it with food - that seemed to help. Also, I took 0.5mg of Ativan twice a day for one month, that helped with the anxiety and the early side effects of Paxil. I cut down gradually on the ativan - it took about 2 weeks. I know of a few other people who felt the same way starting Paxil and the symptoms subsided after a week or so. I was really nervous about starting the Paxil, but I felt so bad from all the panic and anxiety I had to give it a try. For me, a combination of taking Paxil and reading Claire Weekes books and the book from Panic to Power, lots of prayer, and thinking positive thoughts really helped. I feel so much stronger and more positive now, I am slowly cutting down on the Paxil. Hang in there. It will get better!
