Am i alone??
Apr 28, 2006
... Hey everyone... Well I'm extremely tired at the moment but decided to write on here because i think this could make me feel better... I guess i could start by introducing myself..My name is Jasmine, and I'm 18 years old. Over the past few years I've been developing depression and my anxiety (which i've had all my life) has worsened and well then finally came the panic... (6 replies)

... Ick, that just sounds awful. There is nothing worse than feeling severe anxiety and being trapped somewhere that you can't be alone. That in itself causes me a panic attack! I don't even want my husband or my dogs around when I feel that way. Is there any way you can get a room by yourself next year? (21 replies)

... Hey, mjewell! Thanks for being so concerned. Actually, I've had severe anxiety ever since age 3 and OCD, too, so I don't attribute it to college- it's just another day, unfortunately...Really, the only added stress of college is having to deal with my ever-present, immature, self-absorbed roommate- I need my freakin' space! And there she is! But, the way I felt today... (21 replies)

... That's weird, daisy?? hmmm. Maybe someone was drunk on margaritas when they came up with that one lol. I know you have tried lots of different meds in the past for your condition...has anything worked? Are you taking anything right now? I don't know a whole lot about OCD, so pardon my ignorance, but what happens when you have a bad OCD day? I saw on another thread on the... (21 replies)

... Thanks! One week- not very far! Yeah! :bouncing: Interesting, random side-note- "margarita" actually means "daisy" in Spanish. I always just thought it was a name, but, no! :D I'm actually not having a good day. More OCD breakdowns...fun, fun. Write back soon! -GatsbyLuvr1920- (21 replies)

... mjewell- Yeah! I'm sooo happy for you! :bouncing: That's great! You definitely deserve a vacation- it's looong overdue! ;) Solo relajate y bronceate en el sol con su esposo, porque es tan importante que tu gozes tu vacacion y tu aniversario! ... Hi Jules and Gatsbyluvr - I just wanted to respond because I am also feeling much better lately with lexapro and am not needing my Xanax as much but I am going to Mexico (AAAH!) in a week for my anniversary. This will be the first trip I've taken since I got my anxiety under control, so I am really excited but nervous still at the same time. it's also the first really big... (21 replies)

... Thanks, jules! (Oh, and feel free to shorten my name, or just call me, "Gatsby", because I realize it's lengthy! ;) ) I totally agree- everyone who has an anxiety disorder is, in my opinion, intelligent and overly sensitive. I do feel things very strongly- too strongly at times. I care too much about what other people will think or if I've hurt their feelings. I know this is... (21 replies)

... Hi GBLVR, I shortened it because tis so long...U r obviously a pretty emotionally deep person or you wouldn't feel the things u do, which is ok because there r so many people that just don't give a crap about anything or anybody anymore. I really think this is why some of us have panic attacks-it's the people who r more sensitive and have feelings and care about what people... (21 replies)

... Hey, Jules! Yeah, OLD jazz is awesome! I mean actual jazz from the 20's and 30's, and of course, swing. I don't care much for "bluesy" jazz like that of Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday. I'm a Frank Sinatra fan 100%! :bouncing: It's not really "fandom", more like "obsessive", surprise, surprise! Also, love Glenn Miller. I don't remember the exact feeling of a panic attack at... ... Hi again Gatsyby, I figured that is why your have your name that way . Jazz is a cool thing not for everybody my late sister loved Miles Davis. Anywho did u know u suffered from panic attacks @ the age of 3?? Or did u realize it later in life? I can't remember crap when I was 3 but then my mom can remember being in her crib & high chair! I still have an uneasy feeling when I... (21 replies)

... Hey, Jules! Thanks for the compliment on my name! :D Basically, it's not really that clever of a name- my favorite book is The Great Gatsby, so I'm a "GatsbyLuvr", and since Gatsby and it's author, the masterful F. Scott Fitzgerald, defined the Jazz Age, that's why I added the "1920", despite the novel being written in 1925. ;) Anyway, no, I'm not a teacher; I'm a college... (21 replies)

... I'm new to the panic attack arena. Since my diagnosis of pericarditis about 3 weeks ago, I've suddenly developed panic attacks. My PCP thinks the PAs will subside once my pericarditis is totally gone. I was given Lorazepam 1 mg. It basically was useless for me. I had 3 big ones even when I felt jittery and knew they were coming and tried to preempt them by taking the... (21 replies)

... Hi Gatsbyluvr, That is an interesting name. How did u come up with that? Anyways u r a student or teacher? Either one can be stressful and make panic worse I bet. So u r going on Prozac. I heard that it is a great one to take for alot of people. I think Lexapro is kinda in that same kind of group of SSRI. Good luck with it and let us know how it does for you. I didn't get to... ... Thanks, Jules! I'm glad that you not only have the Ativan to help you, but also Lexapro! Yeah, tried Lexapro- didn't help! ;) I've been on Zoloft on-and-off for three years now, and my last day to take it is this Saturday, when I'll only be on my new med- Prozac. Funnily enough, even though the SSRI's are used to treat Generalized Anxiety Disorder and panic attacks, they have... (21 replies)
