Hi Tchris the BP med if its a beta blocker will help with the physical problems, ativan or any other valium type med helps a lot, carry a few tablets with you when out and disolve 1 under the tongue if panicky again look up panic attack on the net, also fight or flight response the psych will probably want you to take an antidepressant med but do try to get some ativan also... Hi beachbum, you wont pass out from panic attacks although it often seems you should, you wont die either, the sureal feeling is called depersonalisation/derealisation and is common but harmless, look it up on the net get doc to check re the dizzyness, anxiety or other things could be the cause when panicking, relax and dont tense up or fight back, accept and wait for it... ... I would say, for me anyways, it takes about an hour to really work. So, I'd take it about an hour before the MRI. I wouldn't dissolve it under your tongue. Just take it with some water. Whether you want to eat or not is up to you. I would probably eat something light with it... ... (3 replies)
