Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) Message Board

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) Board Index

I was diagnosed with PCOS 3 years ago after having an extremely long lasting cycle. I was immediately placed on Birth control and Metformin and have been on both ever since. I did take a small break from Met while I was being treated for a stomach ulcer, but recently have been making sure I take it 2X a day as advised.

Just over a month ago, my husband and I decided it would be ok for me to officially go off BC, since we were wanting to start trying within the next 6 months. I know with BC it usually takes 3 to 6 months for your body to regulate again, plus with the PCOS (just didn't want it to waste all that time getting regular), so this is why I went off now, rather than later. I am not exactly sure if it's just my body trying to get back to normal, or if all the symptoms really mean something. I haven't taken a test, because I really don't want the disapointment. So disheartening knowing that you're missing periods for all the wrongs reasons.

Anyway, since I have been off my BC, I haven't had a period. I figured this would happen regardless.. But then, I started having to urinate twice as much, if not more. I think it was at least 5 times in one night (when at most it's 1 time for me). I have also had some pretty bad lower back pains for over a week now, on top of, occasionally feeling sick after eating, also dizziness when I haven't eaten in awhile. Further, today, I started having abdominal pain (at first on the left, now completely across the botton) with some heavy discharge. Normally, I would just peg this up as an ovulation period, but with all the other factors, I wasn't sure if it's the case. I

SO my question is, with all those symptoms and just barely being off my BC, could it have been that easy and the symptoms are what they seem? OR is it just the PCOS talking and I need to make some additional changes to try to correct some of my symptoms..
