Re: Preclampsia???
Mar 4, 2005
Hello everyone...thanks for your posts. I went to the OB/ER last night.
I was monitored for about 2 hours, did the urine sample, the blood work. All of which came back normal. No elevated blood pressure, and no protein in my urine. My blood work also showed no signs of liver problems. They are concerned about my vision and headaches, thinking this could be the start of migraines. I just don't understand why I am having all of these symptoms! It's really frustrating having all the same symptoms as Pre-eclampsia, and then it's nothing.
Zaza, I hear you about the sweatpants thing. I was wearing my DH's, and THOSE ARE TOO TIGHT! I know it's not just from regular weight gain; I am retaining water pretty bad. With my first dd I gained a ton of FAT weight, and in addition to that, at the end, I retained a LOT of water. My blood pressure was ok throughout, but then it started elevating at the end. I am wondering if it's going to be the same with this one?? I will let you all know what the eye doc/opthomologist says.

Watch yourself very carefully... vision problems and headaches could also be a sign of stroke during pregnancy.... It is not that common..but sure is possible--- hope everything is fine.

Well, went to the eye doc today. My right eye (the one which has been the most blurry) was shown to have something wrong with the optic nerve. The doc doesn't feel it's related to the pregnancy, and also didn't feel that it was the true cause of headaches. (He said "slight" headaches, not the kind I have been having) I have to have more testing done in two weeks. And if my headaches continue, I am supposed to contact my OB doc and see about getting other tests done to see if I am developing migraines. YIPPIE!
As far as the swelling, I have been drinking so much water that I pee every two minutes! Who knows what is really causing that!
I think I will still watch out for pre-ecalmpsia because of all the symptoms, how coincidental! (nausea, headaches, blurred/clouded vision, pulse race, swelling. the only things I DON'T HAVE are elevated blood pressure and protein in the urine.) But like I asked the ER/OB doc last night, how do we know I WON'T DEVELOP PRE-ECLAMPSIA????
And stroke? Holy-moly! I didn't even think of that!

In regards to my anxiety, I was told that out of all the meds to be on, Zoloft was best. BUT there haven't been enough conclusive tests done with women in their pregnancies to know the side effects or risks on a fetus with ANY anti-depressant/anxiety med. I asked my doc about being put on something after the pregnancy is over, and because I am planning on breast-feeding, she won't do it. So, at this point, I have to decide whether or not to breast feed, or stay sane. I don't think there is much choice!!! :D
My anxiety has been better since I had my most recent u/s. AND not having to deal with the ex-hub as much helps too. I also have been seeing a counselor. That REALLY helps!
Well, off I go. Thanks again for all your replies!
~Alexis
PS. If we talk about anxiety anymore we had better make a separate posting--other wise we could get into trouble! :nono: :D
