Hope - my c-section story is pretty much the same as the other ladies'. I was in active labor for about 18 hours (had an epidural for the last 2 hours of it). The baby wasn't coming out so they gave me more meds in my IV and it numbed me. I think that I was shaking a bit. They shaved my pubic area and put a catheter in which I didn't even feel. They wheeled me into the surgery room strapped down my arms and legs and my boyfriend sat by my head and could peek over the curtain. I was nervous, but so tired. I heard some surgical sounds, like what you hear at the dentist's office, and felt a bit of pressure, but no pain. The whole thing took like 5 minutes tops. I was pretty doped up, because when I heard the baby cry, my first thought was "Who let a baby in the room? That's not sanitary." My boyfirend had to leave while the staff stitched me up for like 30 minutes (or so it seemed). That was kinda lonely, but I drifted in and out of sleep. I was wheeled to the recovery area and two nurses watched me, checking my vital signs and doing nursing stuff - I don't even know what they were doing, I was so sleepy. I remember thinking that they must have been angels caring for me (did I tell you that I was really doped up?) I was there for like 2 hours. Afterwards, they wheeled me to my room and let me see and hold the baby. I was happy to see her, but I also wanted to sleep. I tried to breastfeed, but my milk didn't really come in for about 3-4 days. So I had to supplement with formula. I didn't want a c-section, and am trying for a vbac this time, but it wasn't that bad. The recovery sucked. Three rules. Don't laugh, sneeze, or cough afterwards!
