Re: November Moms

Sara -- Glad it wasn't your water breaking. :)

I had to go to the ER yesterday... I had heart palpitations that made my pulse race to 173 the first time I used my blood pressure monitor, and then it was 195 a few minutes later!!! I immediately called my OB to ask if this was something that happened in pregnancy. He asked if I had any cramping or contractions (I didn't) then told me to go to the ER. I got there about 30 minutes later, and it was significantly better by then (down to about 120). Of course, by the time they did an EKG it was normal (90-100 -- which has been normal for me during pregnancy). Now they want me to go to a cardiologist and wear a monitor for 24 hours to see what happens. Sheesh! I did some web research and found that it's not totally uncommon for this to happen during pregnancy for the first time. As with diabetes, it seems that there are lots of hidden things that come out during pregnancy due to the extreme stress it puts upon our bodies.

And, after having no luck with the pain management clinic that my OB referred me to (they still haven't gotten around to deciding if they will even take my case), I got my OB to refer me to the anesthiologist who did my previous back injections (before I had surgery and before I was pregnant). That was yesterday afternoon and they have me scheduled for 7:15 this morning! YAY! I'm not sure exactly what kind of SI joint injection he's going to do, but anything that might bring some pain relief will be appreciated, even if it only lasts a few weeks. I hope you ladies don't experience as much back pain as I have. Darn relaxin!
