Cancer: Prostate Board Index

Hi Ken,

Many of us get hyper vigilant when we catch a wiff of possible cancer. That can be a good thing as it helps us keep paying attention.

However, congratulations on your PSA actually dropping by nearly a point, even with the BPH! That's probably a combination of day-to-day variation in PSA, possibly a different lab, changes in lifestyle and medication, possible short-term influences, and possible waning of an infection. It sure doesn't look like cancer, which tends to steadily, actually exponentially, increase PSA.

That very small decrease in free PSA is likely due to just day-to-day variation; basically, it's just about the same value as the last test. Your free PSA is staying in that very good range, well above the neutral range, and far above the suspicious range.

As you likely know, good PSA trends/values and good free PSA values don't prove there is no prostate cancer, but your results indicate extremely good odds!

Continued good luck!
