Cancer: Prostate Message Board

Cancer: Prostate Board Index

Robotic Surgery On August 24th For My Husband And Results Of First Psa Since Surgery - Undetectable!!!! What A Relief After Almost 3 Months Of Anxiety Awaiting This Outcome!! He Is Doing Excellent. No Incontinence Whatsoever And Getting Some Semi Erections On His Own. Is Using The Pump And Receiving Good Results With That. As Doctor Told Us Immediately Following Surgery, Must Have Patience As This Is A Slow Recovery Process, Taking Possibly Up To A Year Or More. First Thought Through All This - Removable Of The Cancer, Second Thought (very Important To Him) Being Continent, Lastly Sexual Function. Now That We Are Through The First Two, Hoping The Sexual Function Will Be Coming Around. As Stated Before, Have Learned So Much From This Board From All The Experiences Of The Members And Am So Appreciative Of That. His Doctor Wants Repeat Psa Testing Done Every 3 Months For 2 Years As He Says That Is The Time Frame When The Cancer Mainly Returns. After That, 6 Months Between Testing. Is That Normal For Most To Have It Done Every 3 Months For 2 Years? This Has Been Quite A Trying Time In Our Life But At Our Age 63) I Imagine We Have To Expect Some Upsets. From Reading The Board Sounds Like Many Younger Guys Are Going Through This. We Both Agreed That The Best Option Was To Remove The Prostate And Have No Regrets On That Decision.
