I went for a physical in August and had my first PSA done (I am 39 yr old). I have been having a good amount of groin pain and thought I had a hernia but doctor said no, so I thought I should get the PSA to get a baseline. It turned out to be 4.4. I saw a urologist who examined me and said DRE was "fine". He put me on 10 days of Cipro and scheduled me to repeat the PSA 5 weeks later. I have had prostatitis symptoms like pain in lower abdomen, pain in lower back, pain above pubic bone, pain in perineum, pain in upper thigh. I also have some slight burning at tip of penis occasionally after urination. no other urination issues.
I saw the urologist today for results of repeat PSA and he said "now don't fall out of your chair when I tell you this, the PSA has gone up to 6.5". He also did a free PSA which came back at 11%.

I'm really nervous at this point. He scheduled me for a pelvic MRI and said we will see where it goes from there.

He also said the urinalysis was clear and that any infection would have been cleared out by the antibiotic.
