My Boyfriend And I Have Been Together For 3 Years And Usually He Is A Wonderful Guy, But Sometimes I Can't Understand Why Guys Say Things That Is Soo Insensitive To Women And Then They Claim That They Didn't Know It Would Bother Us? Then When I Get Upset By What He Says He Says That Women Does Just Get Vex Vex And Stuff And Always Arguing And Making Noise. That Really Gets To Me. I Feel Really Angry When He Says That Women Are Always Arguing And Ting Like Women Are Bad And Hostile Or Something.

Any One Familiar With That?[/QUOTE]

Well, I hate to judge your bf without knowing exactly what he said that you found so insensitive, but generally, yes, saying women are always arguing and "making noise" does sound somewhat disrespectful. Fortunately, men's attitudes toward women have come a long, long way in the last 3 decades or so, but there are still some neanderthals around that still think women should speak when spoken to and should never contradict her man. I was working as a sales clerk fo a while and a man and his wife came in and from what I gathered from their discussions, he wanted one bed comforter and she didn't think it would match and wanted another one, and he pretty much just disregarded her. Then, if you can believe it, he actually turned to me and said "can't live with them, can't live with them!! (not a typo, he said it twice) Women are just like birds, all they do is squawk and poop, don't you think that's true?" I really couldn't believe my ears!

Generally, I have a very low tolerence for that type of stuff, so I just tend to stay far away from men like that as soon as they show their colors. Some men have told me that the "chauvanistic attitude" is just an opinion and they are entitled to it, but I disagree. It's an opinion, but it's also an unfair, over-generalized, disrespectful, prejudicial way of viewing half the population, and it's funky. I don't think you can ever really change a chauvanist. I guess you just have to weigh his good qualities against this one poor one, and decide if he's worth staying with and taking his "women just fuss and make noise over nothing!" stuff once in a while. In addition, he also sounds like he simply isn't very interested in taking your feelings into consideration. That's a consideration as well.
